Pitch Ready project

Year 11 pupils have been designing, making and preparing products to sell at their market stall as part of the Pitch Ready project run by Westminster Council.

Year 11 pupils have been working hard over the past 2 terms on a project run by Westminster Council. The project, called Pitch Ready, has pupils working in groups to plan, design, make and sell their own products to raise money for The Carers Network and The Passage charities.

This is the third year that SMBS pupils have participated in this project and the feedback from pupils has always been overwhelmingly positive. The projects provides a fantastic opportunity for students to work collaboratively, strategise, budget, be creative and use social skills out in the community.

This year we had 4 groups of students selling various items - candles, decorated tote bags and bulbs, t-shirts and pencil cases and a mystery fiddle bag. And last week, pupils got to put their selling skills to the test and go out and work on the stall.

Yunus said, "It was nice talking to the people who came to the market. I had a good time selling the stuff I made", Arian commented, "It was perfect. We sold so many things and made money for charity" and Mayar said,  "We worked like a team. We talked to lots of people and made a lot of money."
All the pupils had fun and said how proud of themselves they were.
