Trip to the National Maritime Museum

Year 10 visited the National Maritime Museum and the Cutty Sark to enhance their study of The Age of Discovery.

Pupils had the  opportunity to get close to real historical artefacts and objects from that era that they have been studying in history lessons, including navigation tools, samples of spices, other trading products, paintings and figureheads from ships.

Year 10s enjoyed entering the famous Cutty Sark and embraced the opportunity to experience a piece of British Naval History. They were very engaged with the ship's tour guide and asked lots of questions. Later on, in the National Maritime Museum Year 10s discovered more about British Naval History. They enjoyed finding out more about Captain Nelson and the Battle of Trafalgar.
