SM-Bee-S

SMBS pupils have been participating in a school-wide project around Honey Bees.

This term SMBS is taking part in the Honey Bee Project with School Food Matters. The project was launched with a whole school assembly before we welcomed a bee-keeper from London Bee Keeping Association who brought live bees into school in an observation hive and ran a session for students about the importance of bees in food production. On 10th May our Key Stage 4 students helped a visiting gardener to plant pollinator plants to help the local biodiversity. Next term the project is rounded off with a visit for Year 7 and 8 students to Battersea Park Children's Zoo where they will get to dress as bee keepers and go into the hives!
