Trips to places of worship
Pupils in Years 8 and 9 have enjoyed visits to places of worship this term to enhance their Religious Studies curriculum.
Year 8 travelled to the Liberal Jewish Synagogue in St Johns Wood. It was a beautiful, relaxing space where students were able to try on articles of faith such as the Kippah and prayer shawl. Students explored the Synagogue and helped set up the room to hear Susanna read from the Torah. As we visited during Passover, we were given grape juice and matzah to try.
Year 9 students visited the Hindu Mandir in Neasden to support their learning of Hinduism. Students were able to look at murtis and sacred images of the Hindu Gods. Students saw how Hindus worship and learned the rules of Hindu worship. Students were able to see sacred images of key figures studied such as Rama and Sita, Ganesh and Krishna.
Further visits for other year groups are planned to St Marylebone Parish Church and London Central Mosque.
