Dry weather enabled the race to take place outside once more and pupils and staff gathered on the red astro to see who would race to victory and who would fall at the first hurdle. Record numbers of competitors meant that 2 heats were required before the final!

A strong line up including 2 previous champions took their places for the heats. This year's competitors were: Mr J Laux, Ms Ali, Ms Leung, Mr Gadogbe, Ms Arcer, Ms Soares, Ms Mumbi and Ms Ngo. Some controversy at the end of the heats was eventually settled and the finalists took their places once more on the starting line.

In the final, Mrs Arcer got out the blocks quickly but was caught and overtaken by Ms Leung whose pancake flipping was extremely quick. Mr Laux had a strong start too and left Ms Mumbi on the start line. In the final stages, Ms Leung pulled ahead and beat Mr Laux across the finish line, followed closely by Ms Arcer and then Ms Mumbi.

So the SMBS Staff Pancake Race winner for 2025 is Ms Leung. Making yet another new champion in the race’s history. Congratulations Ms Leung!
