Sports Day 2025: A Sizzling Success!
This year’s Sports Day took place on Monday 30 June at Paddington Recreation Ground—and what a scorcher it was! With temperatures soaring to 32°C, pupils and staff alike showed true determination and team spirit in the heat.
We got off to an early start, aiming to complete the track events before the sun was at its hottest. The 200m and 100m races kicked things off, with fantastic participation from all year groups. The races were exciting and hard-fought, particularly among our Year 9 and 10 pupils, where several finishes were almost too close to call! The stands were buzzing with energy as classmates cheered one another on.
A highlight of the day was the fiercely competitive relay, featuring a staff team and ultimately won—by the narrowest of margins—by the Year 9 team. Not to be outdone, the staff 100m sprint brought out a streak of serious competition, with Omar N (honorary staff member for the day) taking home the win, closely followed by Mr J Laux and Mr Edwards.
The much-anticipated staff egg and spoon race did not disappoint either, ending in a controversial but entertaining victory for Mr Gadogbe!
After a short break and plenty of water, we moved on to the field events. Pupils took part in small groups, rotating through long jump, shot put, discus, javelin, and basketball shooting. It was fantastic to see so many students having fun, trying their best, and putting their recent PE lessons into practice.
To round off the day, a well-deserved medal ceremony was held back in the cool of the school sports hall. A huge well done to everyone who took part—you made it a day to remember.
