Open Afternoon and World Culture Celebration

Last week, we were delighted to welcome families and visitors to our combined Open Afternoon and World Culture Celebration.

Bringing these two events together created a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our pupils' achievements, showcase their learning and recognise the rich diversity of our school community.

Throughout the afternoon, pupils confidently led groups of visitors around the school, proudly sharing their work and talking about their learning. Visitors enjoyed seeing the incredible garments created by pupils who have taken part in this year's V&A Fashion Project, as well as artwork from Creative Club exploring pattern and personal reflection. They also visited English lessons where students were studying Hamlet, admired impressive clay sculptures in the Art Room, listened to extracts from the Year 11 podcast and watched pupils preparing a range of delicious dishes for the World Culture Celebration.

The afternoon concluded with our World Culture Celebration, where students, staff and families gathered outside to enjoy an array of food representing the many cultures within our school community. It was wonderful to see so many pupils proudly wearing traditional dress or clothing that reflected their cultural heritage and identity. The celebration was filled with laughter, conversation and a real sense of belonging as everyone enjoyed spending time together in the sunshine.

One particular highlight was watching our Year 8 pupils finally break open the colourful piñatas they had designed and made in Spanish lessons last year—a moment they had been eagerly anticipating!

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the afternoon such a special occasion. It was a fantastic celebration of our pupils' creativity, learning and the inclusive community that makes St Marylebone CE Bridge School such a special place.
