Preparing for Adulthood
Preparing for Adulthood is an important part of our curriculum that helps students develop the skills they need for life beyond school.
The course focuses on building independence, confidence and communication skills, while supporting students to make informed choices about their future.
Students learn how to:
- Talk confidently about themselves, their interests and future plans
- Develop independence at home, in the community and when travelling
- Manage money, shopping and everyday tasks
- Look after their health, wellbeing and online safety
- Prepare for college, work experience and employment
- Take part in enterprise, charity and community projects
Learning is practical, supportive and linked to real-life situations. Students are encouraged to work together, solve problems and reflect on their achievements.
By the time students leave school, they are better prepared to:
- Communicate their needs and choices
- Manage everyday life more independently
- Engage positively with their community
- Move on to college, training or employment with confidence
Preparing for Adulthood helps our students develop the skills they need to live happy, safe and fulfilling adult lives.
