Physical Education Aims
The PE curriculum at SMBS aims to:
- Inspire all pupils to enjoy and engage in physical activity in a safe, inclusive environment.
- Support physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing through structured and supportive PE lessons.
- Develop fitness, flexibility, strength, endurance, and fine and gross motor skills.
- Enable pupils to be physically active through practical, meaningful learning experiences.
- Encourage creativity through movement, games, and problem-solving activities.
- Promote oracy by supporting pupils to communicate, listen, and share ideas and feedback.
- Develop key life skills including teamwork, resilience, self-awareness, and respect for others.
- Support pupils to manage success and disappointment positively.
- Encourage independence through choice-making, responsibility, sportsmanship and leadership opportunities.
- Promote safe participation, understanding of rules and routines, and the school’s values.
