The St Marylebone Bridge School values computing within our school and encourages pupils to access a wide variety of technology. The age of our pupils means they have been born into a digital world, growing up surrounded by the technology and tools of the digital age.

Many of our pupils are very confident in using this technology. However, their knowledge and awareness of the risks and dangers is not always as developed, an issue which is further impounded by their language and communication needs. Therefore, it is important pupils learn how to be safe when browsing online and becoming members of online communities.

At St Marylebone Bridge School, we are committed to discussing these serious issues as part of our e-safety curriculum, which includes its inclusion in the ICT and Computing Curriculum, term-long units of work on e safety in Key Stage 3 and parent workshops on e-safety.

However, we can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work with parents to ensure the e-Safety message is clear and consistent. It is important that parents speak to their children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online.
