Y7 creative carving at the canal

As part of their outdoor learning lessons, Year 7 set off on an adventure to Queen's Park Canalside on Monday afternoon.

We were met by Joel and Maise, two volunteers running the wildlife exploration workshop. They gave us a guided tour of the canalside and asked students for their ideas on how to bring new life to the area. Students had lots of suggestions. The creativity flowed… no one was afraid to branch out!

Next, students got hands-on: sanding and painting bee hotels and starting to chisel out some very promising bug hotels. Let’s just say the bugs are going to be checking into some very stylish accommodation!

It was a very exciting trip and students enjoyed getting involved. A big thank you to Mr Smith, Joel, and Maise for organising such a brilliant afternoon and helping us learn more about the wild side of our local area.
