A visit from some furry (and not so furry) friends

This term, our Year 7 students have been enjoying an exciting and meaningful addition to their PSHE curriculum: Animal Care. This topic has given students the opportunity to learn about responsibility, empathy, and the importance of looking after living creatures.

To bring their learning to life, we were delighted to welcome some very special visitors into school. Iggy and AJ, two friendly and well-behaved dogs, joined us alongside Taffy the tortoise. The visit was a fantastic hands-on experience that allowed students to observe and interact with animals in a safe and supervised environment.

During the session, students learnt about the basic needs of different animals, including diet, habitat, exercise, and emotional wellbeing. They also discussed how to approach animals safely and respectfully, as well as the long-term commitment involved in owning a pet.

Iggy and AJ were a big hit, helping students understand canine behaviour and the importance of training and care, while Taffy the tortoise sparked curiosity about reptiles and how their needs differ from more familiar pets.

The visit not only reinforced classroom learning but also encouraged students to reflect on kindness, responsibility, and respect for all living things. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm and thoughtful engagement from Year 7.

We would like to extend a big thank you to our visitors for making this experience so memorable!

Well done, Year 7!
