Year 7 Artwork Exhibited at The Wallace Collection

We are very proud to share that our Year 7 students have had their artwork displayed at The Wallace Collection as part of the exhibition Our Year at the Wallace Collection.
Throughout the year, Year 7 have taken part in a creative project responding to portraits and landscape paintings from the Collection. Their work is now on display for visitors to see, celebrating their imagination, confidence and growing engagement with art.
The exhibition has also been co-curated by two of our Year 11 students, Jannah and Tim, who recently completed their work experience at The Wallace Collection. As part of this experience, they explored different roles within the museum, met staff from a range of departments, and helped bring the display together.
Jannah reflected on how much she enjoyed the opportunity to shadow different members of staff and learn about the many roles that help bring the museum to life. She said that hearing about staff journeys was inspiring and helped her understand that there is not one correct path into a career. She also felt that it is important for young people to have opportunities like this, as visiting places such as The Wallace Collection can help them grow their knowledge, creativity and the way they see things.
Tim also shared that he felt happy during his time at The Wallace Collection. He particularly enjoyed visiting the Conservation Studio and learning more about how the museum works, including the role of security staff. Tim said he liked everything at The Wallace Collection, especially the statues of Richard Wallace and Lady Wallace.
Families are warmly encouraged to visit and see the students’ work on display. The exhibition is open every day at The Wallace Collection until 25 July.
There are also two summer events taking place which families may be interested in:
Closing Celebration for the Display
This will include creative activities and a sensory gallery tour.
Winston Churchill: The Painter
A free opportunity to visit the current exhibition with a sensory storyteller and creative activities.
A huge well done to all of our young artists, and thank you to The Wallace Collection for another inspiring year of partnership work with our school.
