Attendance
Regular attendance is fundamental to ensuring positive outcomes for all pupils. Consistent attendance supports academic achievement, social development, and long-term success. At The St Marylebone CE Bridge School, our ethos prioritizes creating a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment where attendance is a shared responsibility among pupils, parents, and staff.
We wish to work in partnership with parents and carers to ensure your child attends on time everyday and we are here to support families in resolving any difficulties.
- School starts at 8.30am and finishes at 3.15pm.
- If your child is ill, please make sure that you contact the school by 8.30 to let us know and to ask for advice if necessary.
- Please make sure you phone school for every day that your child is absent.
- If no contact is received regarding the absence, it is recorded as unauthorised.
- Please ensure that medical appointments are made outside school time where possible. If this is not possible, we will need to see medical evidence upon return in the form of a headed letter, appointment card or email from the healthcare provider.
- Holidays should not be taken during school time. Holidays will not be authorised during term time, and may result in a fixed penalty notice.
- If you need to take your child out of school for exceptional reasons please, a request must be made in writing to the headteacher at least 2 weeks in advance by emailing office@stmarylebonebridgeschool.com. Please provide as much information as possible about the circumstances. In urgent cases, a request should be made as early as possible.
- If you are experiencing difficulty in getting your child into school, we will work with you to support you and your family. In the first instance, you should contact your child’s Form Tutor to discuss any difficulties and they will be able to refer you to the relevant member of staff for further support and assistance as required.
- We monitor children's attendance and punctuality closely. We will contact you if there are concerns relating to your child's attendance or punctuality.
- We celebrate pupils' good attendance and improved attendance in different ways, including through certificates in celebration assemblies and our termly attendance draw for those with 100% attendance, as well as other rewards and acknowledgement as appropriate.
