- Develop curiosity and openness towards different languages and cultures, encouraging students to explore and engage with the wider world.
- Use the study of Spanish to strengthen broader communication skills, with a strong emphasis on listening, speaking, interaction, and confidence in expressing ideas.
- Develop knowledge and awareness of other languages and cultures, supporting students to make connections between Spanish, their own experiences, and the world around them.
- Foster an awareness of themselves as global citizens, helping students understand their place in an increasingly interconnected society.
- Support students to value linguistic diversity, including Spanish, other world languages, and their own home languages, recognising language as a key part of identity and belonging.
- Provide meaningful opportunities for students to experience and use another language, through practical, engaging, and real-life contexts.
- Enable students to communicate in Spanish for a range of purposes, including social interaction, everyday situations, and personal expression.
- Develop students’ understanding of language structures and patterns, enabling them to make sense of how Spanish works and apply this knowledge with increasing confidence and independence.
