Therapy and Support

Welcome to our Therapy and Support Services

Integrated Support for Every Student

At St Marylebone CE Bridge School (SMBS), we are dedicated to ensuring every student develops essential communication and life skills. Relationships are at the core of what we do. We work closely with families to foster independence, confidence, and meaningful engagement. Through a holistic approach, we integrate therapeutic support into a rich curriculum, enabling students to thrive academically and socially.

We take a neuroaffirmative approach, recognising and celebrating neurodiversity as a natural and valuable aspect of human variation. Rather than seeking to “normalise” behaviour, we focus on understanding and supporting each student’s unique strengths and needs. For example:

  • Helping students develop strategies to manage challenges without masking or hiding who they are.
  • Creating an environment where students feel safe, accepted, and valued for who they are
  • Empowering students to self-advocate, build confidence, and engage with the world in ways that work for them.

Our practice is also trauma-informed, prioritising relationships and safety to ensure students feel secure and ready to learn. We emphasise collaboration across our Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), which meets weekly to coordinate and review support for pupils. This integrated approach allows us to be proactive and responsive, ensuring every child has the best possible opportunities to succeed.

Finally, our work is firmly rooted in evidence-based practice. We draw on proven strategies and regularly update our approaches to reflect the latest research. By combining best practices with our school’s creative ethos, we provide tailored, effective support for all our students.
